Shared vaults now open in the phone apps and browser extension
Items in a vault someone shared with you, or in your family vault, didn’t show in the phone apps or the desktop app, and in the browser extension a shared vault stopped passkeys from working. Only the web vault opened them. Now every app opens them the same way. See sharing.
- Shared and family vaults show with their names, and their items list, fill and sync like your own, files included. Your iPhone’s AutoFill and Android’s autofill offer their logins too.
- Your role applies everywhere. In a view-only vault nothing can be added or changed.
- Removing someone from a vault gives it a new key, as before. The other members’ apps switch to the new key on their next sync. The person you removed loses the vault and its items.
- Every app checks the key. If the signature on your copy of a vault’s key doesn’t check out, the vault stays closed in every app, with a warning saying why.
- Passkeys in the extension work in accounts with shared vaults, and a new passkey can be saved into a shared login you can edit.
Sharing and inviting people still happen in the web vault for now.
